Maxime Boutillier
Born Bordeaux, France, 1989
A French designer and interior architect, Boutillier is a lover of pure and sculptural aesthetics. Guided by the notion that ‘creation is the art of foretelling one’s past, his contemporary designs are rooted in the rich history of French decorative arts. Carefully considering the intimate relationship between material and shape, Boutillier creates furniture singular in its elegant balance of history and the world to come. Uncompromising in his search for authenticity and excellence, Boutillier is noted for his dedication to noble materials and traditional French craftsmanship
After graduating from Penninghen in Paris, Boutillier worked with Joseph Dirand for seven years. He founded his own studio in 2020
ORACLE
Exclusively for studiotwentyseven, Boutillier’s oracle collection finds sculptural artistry and functional design through the seamless marriage of two opposing geometric forms: the rectangle and the circle. Rooted in the direct juxtaposition of these fundamental shapes, each work tells a distinct story, offering a transformative experience that invites us embrace the art of living. Boutillier ingeniously plays with these elemental geometries to create three unique compositions that become a meditation on emotion and form
Each work is handCrafted by master artisans in france from exquisite Alabastrino Travertine. The randomized patterns of this rare travertine lend an organic, unpredictable quality, creating a sense of harmony in juxtaposed geometric forms.
