PADDY PIKE

Paddy Pike

Born London, UK, 1996

A designer based in London, Pike creates contemporary works with a signature blend of comfort, elegance, and sense of balance, and that feature strong references to 20th century art and design. Pike conceives of design as both the solution to a problem and an opportunity for storytelling—no wonder he has become renowned for works that are at once functional marvels and aesthetic triumphs

Drawing upon his background in engineering, Pike revels in the painstaking process of creation, always seeking to refine each idea to its most essential elements. This diligence combined with his extensive research, interdisciplinary approach, and unbridled passion results in works that exhibit a dynamic array of identities, yet are unified by Pike’s ebullient personality and singular vision

Pike founded his design practice after studying Mechanical Engineering at Edinburgh University and immersing himself in the world of collectible design. Prior to founding his eponymous studio, he worked with Francis Sultana, Peter Mikic Interiors, David Gill Gallery, Davidson London, Tom Faulkner, Sebastian Conran, Barber Osgerby, and more. Pike’s work will be on view at STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN New York gallery fall/winter 2025

Arnardo

The Arnardo collection by Pike is a rigorous exploration of form, material, and digital process—an investigation into how emerging technologies can transform the sculptural language of contemporary furniture. Paying homage to the legacy of Ron Arad, the series is rooted in Arad’s provocative approach to industrial materiality, yet brings his visual vocabulary of fluidity and distortion into the domain of virtual reality and artificial intelligence

Through VR modeling and AI-based rendering, Pike constructs spatially complex forms with a precision and dimensional nuance that would be difficult to achieve through traditional methods alone. This process yields objects that challenge the static expectations of furniture, offering instead a series of reflective, contoured volumes that function as both utilitarian and sculptural artifacts

The mirror-polished steel surfaces transform each work into a mutable presence that reshapes itself with each new context, creating a kind of perpetual instability that raises questions about the nature of objectivity and perspective. Pike’s use of scale and proportion is calibrated to evoke a sense of both monumentality and elegance, bespeaking a tension between material and form as well as between object and environment

Extending the lineage of sculptural modernism into a new digital-material dialectic, the Arnardo collection resists categorization—at once furniture, sculpture, and reflective instrument—to propose a mode of design that is as speculative as it is material. Handcrafted in Spain and forged in mirror-polished steel, each work is exclusively for STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN and in strictly limited edition
