STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN presents artist Luna Paiva at Unique Design X Savannah from April 27th through May 1st, 2022. The first platform exclusively dedicated to collectible design, Unique Design X Group is a female-led pioneer in the global design community, encouraging innovation and creativity. “A New Space Age” is the latest edition of this nomadic boutique design fair in Savannah, Georgia. Luna Paiva and STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN invites viewers into her fully immersive portal, allowing us to enter her world of “nature gilded for profane adoration”
Therein are four breathtaking original designs that represent a new zenith in Paiva’s sculptural practice, uniting the sacred, the natural, and the ancient to create striking contemporary objects. This collection exhibits not only the singular dynamism of Paiva’s vision and practice, but also reveals something ineffable about the ingenuity of finding order in an untamable world. STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN celebrates Paiva’s collection that speaks to our current moment and reverberates across time. In these vital new works, Paiva indeed manifests “A New Space Age”
Each of the four pieces in the collection find an exquisite balance between whimsy and wistfulness. Evoking primordial rock formations and childlike sandcastles alike, each piece seems to collapse time, recalling a romantic past and dreaming into a lyrical future. Paiva’s visionary approach allows us to see forms we think we know anew, making each piece feel deeply nostalgic and utterly contemporary, earthy and extraterrestrial, carefully composed and fancifully organic

A SCULPTOR, PHOTOGRAPHER AND DESIGNER BASED IN BARCELONA, SPAIN, Paiva gilds objects that were not born to be art, but had a nude life of their own. Her subjects—mounted rocks, succulent plants and cacti—are AT ONCE familiar and ALIEN, LIKE species from UNKNOWN realms. Like us, they are inhabitants of creation shaped by time. Playing with the the sacred layers of fetish present in contemporary art, her objects speak of life that preexisted the human eye, and of ancient traditions where casting gold embodied a sacred anima. In Paiva’s words, her sculptures are “Ready-mades of nature gilded for profane adoration”
