Exclusive to STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN, the 6080 collection is defined by an exacting exploration of proportion, balance, and spatial nuance. Through austere geometries and an unwavering commitment to restraint, Recope de Tilly advances a new formalism—rigorous, measured, and deeply contemporary—grounded in design logic rather than style
The collection’s name refers to the 60/80 design principle, a reinterpretation of the 60–30–10 rule, in which dominant, secondary, and accent elements are distributed in precise ratios to achieve compositional balance. Recope de Tilly transposes this principle into the physical language of furniture: the aluminum structure defines the 60%—the dominant visual and material framework—while the stone or wood surfaces provide the 30% counterweight. The final 10% is articulated through absence and detail—voids that create tension and nuance within the restrained volumes
At the core of the collection is an exploration of aluminum as both medium and message, not only in its lightness, durability, and recyclability, but in its ability to express precision without ornament. Its matte, brushed finish resists sentimentality and rejects surface embellishment, allowing form to operate as the primary mode of expression. In 6080, aluminum is not a backdrop; it is the conceptual and formal foundation of the work. The integration of mineral and organic surfaces—stone or wood—further enriches the dialogue between sober precision and tactile depth
With Exacting craftsmanship and architectural rigor, Recope de Tilly repositions aluminum beyond its staid industrial roots to a forward-looking inquiry into essentialism and proportion. Each work is crafted in France by Ateliers Saint-Jacques and in a limited edition of twelve
