Tim Vranken

Born Heusden, Belgium, 1987

A Belgian artist, Vranken creates refined works of expressive furniture that comfort the viewer with a sense of harmony and solidity. In both process and aesthetic, vranken refuses to compromise the steadfast integrity of his work, as is evident in his use of pure materials and the honest natural processes through which he crafts them. Vranken guilelessly plays with clean lines and geometric forms, devoid of slickness or frippery, to produce works of resolute honesty and veritable ingenuity.

With a devotion to timber in its most unmediated forms, Vranken lets each piece of wood reveal its  imperfect nature, rather than disguise its distinctive qualities with overtly cosmetic finishes. Foregrounding the structure of the wood grain, he allows beauty to reveal itself. In his collections, form and function are one; in fact, in many of his works, joinery becomes the most distinctive feature. to ensure his designs meet his impeccable vision and uncompromising standards, Vranken builds every piece by hand

Born and based in Beglium, Vranken founded his eponymous studio in 2010 after finishing his studies at Thomas More in Mechelen. His landmark arcus collection, which pays homage to classical forms, is exclusive to studiotwentyseven

ARCUS COLLECTION

Exclusive to studiotwentyseven, Vranken’s Arcus collection combines the artist’s unmistakable craft and restrained aesthetic with a homage to classical architecture’s most iconic form: the column.  Vranken has variously reimagined the doric column across the collection, retaining its fundamental essence and grace while simplifying and refining it. This minimalist reinterpretation is a virtuosic display of geometric purity and clean lines, a celebration of functional integration and negative space, and manifests timber as a material of utmost elegance and nobility

In the stool, coffee table, bench, and table, Vranken allows us to see this most fundamental and familiar form anew with his singular skill in exposing the natural beauty of woodgrain and his signature ability to pare down designs to their purest and most honest shapes. Handcrafted by vranken in Belgium, each work offers a sense of quiet elegance, celebrating the beauty of simplicity and the enduring appeal of classical design principles
