The BK Collection by Niko Koronis marks a pivotal moment in his long-standing exploration of resin as both material and medium. Developed through years of experimentation, the collection reflects a deep commitment to understanding how material behavior shapes not only form, but also the lived experience of an object. In the BK Collection, resin is not treated as a neutral surface or technical solution, but as an active presence that challenges, responds, and ultimately defines the work

At the heart of the collection is an intense focus on structure, most visibly articulated through its sculptural legs. At first glance, these elements appear reduced and almost archetypal, yet they are the result of a rigorous process of testing, iteration, and refinement. Every curve, plane, and transition has been carefully calibrated to balance visual clarity with structural necessity. The ambition was not merely aesthetic, but conceptual: to cast each leg as a single, seamless volume of resin, allowing the form to read as uninterrupted and whole

This approach posed significant technical challenges. Casting resin at this scale demands absolute precision: control over temperature, timing, and composition is critical, as even the slightest deviation can result in bubbles, discoloration, or structural weakness. Achieving a smooth, defect-free surface requires both meticulous planning and constant attention throughout the process. What emerges is the product of discipline as much as intuition, where craftsmanship becomes inseparable from design intent

Efficiency plays a quiet but essential role. The legs are engineered to use as little resin as possible while securely supporting expansive tabletops. Flat planes meet softened curves in a geometry that appears effortless, yet conceals a high degree of complexity. This balance between economy and strength becomes the visual identity of the collection

One of the most unexpected qualities of the BK Collection lies in its relationship with light. Resin’s natural translucency allows thickness and curvature to register visibly. Denser sections absorb light and appear rich and saturated, while thinner areas glow softly. As lighting conditions change throughout the day, the tables subtly shift in tone and depth, lending them a sense of duration rather than fixity. Each work becomes an animate object, responding in real time to the environment and developing its own circadian rhythm

The BK Collection epitomizes Koronis’s ongoing interest in working with demanding materials, refining process through repetition, and discovering beauty through technical limitations. Developed with rigor and restraint, the resulting collection offers unexpected freedom, joy, and light, inviting us to find freedom within form in all our pursuits

BIOGRAPHY

Niko Koronis

Born Thessaloniki, Greece, 1973

A Greek Milan-based Architect and Product Designer, Koronis creates radically expressive minimalist furniture collections, often defined by geometric form. Daring in his use of materials, he undertakes long and delicate production processes to create beautifully crafted pieces of ‘small scale architectural entities.’ With this experimental approach and an encyclopedic design vocabulary, Koronis blurs the boundaries between nature and artifice, material and form, rigidity and play. His work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale and the Triennale di Milano

With Master’s degrees in Architecture and Product Design, as well as a Ph.D. in Architecture from the Architectural Association in London, Koronis has taught at universities around the world, including fellowships at Central Saint Martins and the Alvar Aalto Foundation
