The Calvet Stool reflects Gaudí’s ability to distill architectural thinking into a compact and purposeful object. Designed as part of the furniture ensemble for Casa Calvet, the stool demonstrates how Gaudí approached even the most modest pieces with the same rigor, sensitivity, and expressive intent as his buildings
Its form is defined by rich, flowing contours, where the varnished oak grain curves upward into a subtly cornered backrest. Decorative elements are deliberately restrained, allowing the inherent beauty of the material and the precision of craftsmanship to take precedence. The stool’s symmetrical structure rests on three legs, enabling it to nest naturally into a corner while maintaining a strong sculptural presence
The dark mass of solid wood is carefully balanced by the stool’s proportions, creating a sense of visual lightness despite its material density. This interplay of weight and fluidity exemplifies Gaudí’s bold, organic, and quietly eccentric design language
Each Calvet Stool is individually numbered and accompanied by a certificate signed by the Director of the Gaudí Cathedra, certifying it as a faithful and exact reproduction of Antoni Gaudí’s original design
