The Évasion Works brings together two sculptural works — the Évasion Dining Table and the Évasion Console — each born of a landscape that restores the imagination. Rather than illustrating a place, Durelli channels what these landscapes do to the creative mind. That is, how do certain environments dissolve fatigue, sharpen perception, and make the hand brave again?

The Évasion Dining Table began in Marrakech, a city that has repeatedly reset Durelli’s creative instincts. Each return brings the same sensory shock of beauty: the precision of light cutting through moucharabieh, the shock of pigments in the souk, the scent of orange blossom drifting through a riad courtyard, the textured rhythm of pottery and weaving. In an afternoon, the environment reordered his senses as color returned, intuition reawakened, and design became an act of appetite rather than effort

Translating that renewal into form, Durelli conceived a table that radiates stillness and intensity. The table is generous in geometry, elemental in structure, yet alive with the memory of Marrakech’s textures and tonal heat. It is not a literal depiction of the city, but a vessel for the sensation of stepping back into oneself, of rediscovering the capacity to create. In this work, Évasion becomes both title and purpose: a table shaped by a place that refuses to let the imagination rest

The Évasion Console emerged from a contrasting but equally immersive encounter: canyon landscapes where sandstone has been sculpted by wind, time, and silence. What captivated Durelli was not the grand scale of these formations, but the way their surfaces transform across a single day from soft at dawn, to dramatic at noon to liquid in the golden hour. It is a world where erosion becomes choreography, and light becomes a patient collaborator

The console preserves that quiet movement in solid form. Its flowing, wave-like profile feels as if carved by breath rather than force, shifting subtly as the ambient light changes. In this work, Évasion is not escape through sensory abundance, as in Marrakech, but through meditative stillness, becoming an invitation to pause and notice the small transformations that shape the world and ourselves

Together, the Évasion Dining Table and Évasion Console trace a continuum between two kinds of renewal: the city that overwhelms the senses back into life, and the desert that restores attention through silence and gradual change. Each work stands on its own, yet together they reminds that Inspiration is not found in one geography, but in the emotional thresholds where perception resets and imagination begins again
