FRANCESCO BALZANO

FB

Born Paris, France, 1979

A designer based in Paris, Balzano creates minimal, absolute, and timeless furniture objects and interiors. He seeks to uncover emotional resonance in the dialogue between shape and material and reveals the poetry in the relationship between scale, light, and space. Guided by the principle that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, Balzano’s work combines noble materials, purity of lines, and hyper-detailed architectural references with everyday functionality. He makes limited edition pieces for select art and design galleries around the world

After studying architecture and design at Penningen, Balzano joined the famed studio of Joseph Dirand. In 2018, he opened his furniture studio while continuing his work as an interior architect

Giorgio collection

Named for giorgio de chirico, the giorgio collection pays homage to the famed metaphysical painter and forefather of surrealism. Chirico’s great innovation was to combine purposefully distorted perspectives, compressed shapes, and numerous vanishing points with vaguely classical, highly simplified architectural elements. Balzano’s collection beautifully honors the mesmerizing and delightfully disorienting quality of chirico’s paintings by playing with shadow and light on minimalist interpretations of classical forms. Like chirico’s work, each piece in the collection is a poetic juxtaposition of the familiar and unfamiliar

Visually arresting, elegant, and sculptural, the chirico collection is a singular offering of surrealist luxury for the most daring collector. Handcrafted in Brown Lacquer by fine French artisans at atelier SAint-Jacques, each piece is in strictly limited edition
