JORIS POGGIOLI

Joris poggioli

Born French Alps, France, 1988

a French artist, architect, and designer, Poggioli draws inspiration from his French-Italian heritage, seamlessly blending French elegance and sophistication with Italian subtlety and eccentricity, resulting in a perfect fusion of both cultures. His strong architectural vision enables him to create timeless objects where form reigns supreme. obsessed with shape and inspired by a range of mid-century and contemporary architects and artists, his works express creative freedom and a sense of play yet are simultaneously sculptural, elegant, and timeless. Following form, he Allows the essence of his materials — such as marble, stone, lacquer and velvet — to speak to us in an embodied and emotive experience

Poggioli’s works seamlessly integrate into a wide range of settings, from historical to contemporary. Whether simple or intricate, the power of form takes center stage in a sculptural dance. In this spirit, each work stands independently yet harmoniously complements the others. every line embodies an introspective quest, emphasizing the importance of freedom, discipline, and the ability to capture the nuances of daily life and translate them into captivating designs

After studying architecture, Poggioli founded his own atelier in 2017, where has been crafting his own sculptural world with a premium on form and accentuating the inherent power of materials. Renowned for his architectural prowess, Poggioli has been recognized as part of the AD 100 four consecutive times

GALATEA

The Galatea collection draws its name from the mythological figure Galatea, a symbol of beauty, transformation, and artistry. In Greek mythology, Galatea was a statue brought to life by the sculptor Pygmalion, an embodiment of his ideal vision of perfection. This tale of creation and metamorphosis informs the collection, as each piece of marble, carefully sculpted and honed, becomes a refined object of desire and function

Much like the mythological Galatea, these WORKS are the result of exquisite craftsmanship, where the inherent qualities of the marble are enhanced through the touch of skilled artisans. The name Galatea evokes the idea of bringing stone to life, paralleling the craftsmanship that turns solid blocks of marble into expressive, dynamic forms

The forms of the Galatea WORKS are defined by their elegant simplicity, allowing the beauty of the marble to take center stage. The smooth, refined surfaces showcase the intricate patterns and colors of the stone, transforming each piece into a functional work of art. The distinct veining and subtle color variations present in each slab ensure that no two pieces are alike, imbuing them with an individuality that mirrors the dynamic qualities of nature itself

Exclusively for Studiotwentyseven, the Galatea collection embodies both the timeless beauty of marble and the transformative power of art, becoming both sculptural objects and tributes to the beauty of natural stone brought to life through human creativity. Each work in the Galatea collection is handcrafted in Italy and is customizable upon request
