QUINLAN OSBORNE

Quinlan Osborne

Born Bantry, Ireland, 1973

An Irish designer based in Montreal, Osborne is the founder and artistic director of Claste Collection, a design and fabrication studio with an aesthetic rooted in new minimalism. His work expresses an imaginative and refined simplicity with an unrelenting attention to detail. Sculptural and bold, Osborne’s collection engenders grounded moments of reflection by exploring ways of infusing monumental materials like marble and glass with a sense of fragility and tension. Through ingenuity and artistry, Osborne fuses a knowledge of traditional craftsmanship with a desire to push the boundaries of what is possible using modern technology and fabrication processes. He blends the familiar with the extraordinary and invites people to reexamine their expectations of what furniture should be and how it is traditionally used

After studying architecture at the University of Waterloo in Ontario and the University of Illinois at Chicago, Osborne went on to work with several of the most prominent architectural firms in Canada, London, and Dublin. His work has been recognized with several high profile awards, including the Canadian Architecture Award of Merit, and is part of private and public collections in Canada, the US, and Europe
