Thomas Moisan’s Mazara collection is rooted in a simple and ancient idea: stone placed upon stone, held in balance by its own weight. A meditation on gravity and the enduring intelligence of early stone construction, the collection takes inspiration from megalithic and Celtic sites where monumental stones were not shaped into ornament but simply placed, held, and stabilized by their own mass. What remains compelling in these ancient structures is not only their form but their clarity. Mazara translates this primordial logic into a contemporary sculptural language in which each work reveals exactly how it stands
Across the collection, columns tilt and shift off axis, subtly offset to create a quiet tension. Negative space becomes an active component of the composition, opening passages of air and light between dense elements of stone. The silhouettes feel both grounded and fluid, with volumes that are generous yet precise. Edges move between softness and definition, while tabletops explore a nuanced dialogue between curved and linear contours that lend the works an organic presence
Nothing here is decorative. Every gesture is structural. Each work is defined by how one volume supports another and by the precision of their placement. Because the construction remains visible, the works carry a calm yet assertive presence that feels both ancient and newly discovered. Each is carved from either Moleanos stone or Terre di Bolgheri marble, materials whose density and quiet tonal depth reinforce the collection’s sense of permanence
Across Mazara, small shifts in placement and proportion create a quiet evolution from one work to the next. A column leans slightly further, a support moves outward, an edge softens. Over time, the collection reveals something more than structure alone. It evokes a sense of grounding and continuity, recalling humanity’s earliest gestures of building and gathering. In their calm weight and enduring presence, the works offer a quiet emotional resonance, objects that feel steady, elemental, and profoundly at ease in the world
