Evoking a sense of encounter with a primordial realm, Tourain’s Megalith console is an object that feels discovered rather than designed, as if shaped by time, ritual, and geological force. Referencing primitive art, ancient megaliths, and the enduring wonder of Stonehenge, the work carries a quiet monumentality that resonates beyond its scale. Handcrafted in Belgium, the work constructed from sculpted oak legs paired with a tabletop composed of in-house cast brass tiles, arranged in a precise geometric grid. The organic, unruly forms of the legs recall stalagmites or eroded stone, while the disciplined brass surface introduces a counterpoint of structure and intention

This interplay between the raw and the refined defines the work. Natural growth is tempered by human craft, creating a balanced composition that feels both ancient and deliberate. At once functional and sculptural, the Megalith Console Table transforms the domestic interior into a site of quiet reverence, echoing the mystery and permanence of monumental stone architecture

Born Knokke, Belgium, 1996

A multidisciplinary and autodidactic artist, tourain creates imaginative, daring, and sophisticated works of functional sculpture. His work has a uniquely tangible quality, inviting us to experience something thrilling and ineffable through the interplay of materials, shapes, textures, and patinas. Working in a process that seeks liberation and possibility through sketching, questioning, and conversation, tourain’s philosophy is driven by three central tenets: first-class craftsmanship, the Use of the purest materials, and A profound respect for every characteristic of those materials. Working primarily in hand-cast brass, Tourain draws inspiration from the natural elements and the landscape that surrounds his studio in Belgium. He often combines brass with other pure materials such as wood, natural stone, or glass — Whatever the combination, nature’s forms and abstractions express themselves through the work.
