KSENIA EMELIANOVA

Ksenia Emelianova

Born Russia, 1987

A Russian-born and Italian-based artist and designer, Emelianova combines her sensibility for art and design with a deep understanding of materials and craftsmanship. Drawing on her training in visual arts and interior design, she creates collectible design objects that reflect her unique vision and transmit emotion through shape. Her first collection of furniture, Distortion Vol. I, was inspired by the aesthetics of the 1970s and the ethos of rock music

After graduating from art school in Russia, Emelianova studied interior design at IED in Milan and worked for the architect Massimo Adario in Rome. In 2014, she founded Emelianova Studio

OBJECT 05 CREDENZA

Inspired by the glam rock aesthetic of the 1970s, Ksenia Emelianova’s fabulously sensual and ultra-contemporary Object 05 Credenza is as much a sumptuous sculpture as a beautifully crafted credenza. Positively sexy and indulgent, its sleek curvilinear form and resplendent materials reference iconic guitars and classic luxury automobiles, daring anyone not to have a good time in its presence. This extraordinary piece is of a limited edition of twenty and is signed

The use of briar wood is extremely rare in such a large piece; prized for its highly distinctive flame-like grain, hardness, and heat resistance, the Mediterranean tree has long been the preferred material for tobacco pipes. The polished brass, most often used for small accents, is spectacularly elevated to a grand scale of curved panels that newly evince the material’s brilliance and grace

Simple cylindrical brass legs beautifully compliment the geometric volume above and lend a mesmerizing floating effect. A discreet central drawer glides open to reveal a secret, sensuous compartment in gorgeous, glossy black lacquered wood. Also featuring a removable padded bottom panel in yellow upholstery, this provocative, and opulent piece transcends its rock influences to become an utterly singular event that entices, enlivens, and enriches its viewer and surroundings
