MAX ZINSER

Max Zinser

Born WASHINGTON DC, United States, 1987

A New York based interior and furniture designer, Zinser is inspired by ancient art and mysticism. His design ethos is driven by the belief that the furniture and objects with which we live have the potential to enhance our well-being. He imbues his work with the age-old belief that furniture and objects have spiritual significance in our lives

Zinser’s work seeks to recontextualize ancient, ritualistic art for contemporary life by modernizing designs in both form and materiality. Adopting additional aesthetics from the Art Deco and Brutalist movements, his furniture lives timelessly between eras. Employing fine finishes and working with storied artisans, Zinser’s passion for excellence comes to life in refined detailing and construction techniques

Taking an unconventional path to furniture and interior design, Zinser is a graduate of NYU’s Gallatin School for Individualized Studies. After many years designing runway shows and photo shoots for the fashion industry, Zinser established his eponymous design studio focusing on interiors and furniture in an effort to create spaces and objects with a greater sense of purpose and permanence

His interior design clients have included clare v, the row, theory, goop, glossier, re/done, 3.1 phillip lim, raf simons, jennifer meyer, bureau betak, and fila. His work has been featured in architectural Digest, the new york times style magazine, Elle decor, and surface

MONument collection

Lighthearted yet luxurious, zinser’s MONUMENT collection is a family of animalistic furniture, simultaneously classic and modern, created to transcend pure utility and become animate. It is inspired by the idea that e strength of the animals carved into ancient Egyptian furniture would empower their keeper, implying a deep and reciprocal connection between man and animal, man and object

the collection is comprised of five totemic characters—chaise, slipper chair, bench, side table, pedestal—that are intended as playful companions to the primary furnishings of a home and its inhabitants. with subtle references to french art deco design, ancient zoomorphic art, and animal anatomy, the collection is defined by a unique approach to form combined with a refined palette of materials

each piece is made-to-order in brooklyn and is offered in a selection of finishes and upholstery, ensuring each piece will have its own distinctive personality
