Francesco Balzano
BORN PARIS, FRANCE, 1980
A DESIGNER BASED IN PARIS, BALZANO CREATES MINIMAL, ABSOLUTE, AND TIMELESS FURNITURE, OBJECTS, AND INTERIORS. HE SEEKS TO UNCOVER EMOTIONAL RESONANCE IN THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN SHAPE AND MATERIAL AND REVEAL THE POETRY IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SCALE, LIGHT, AND SPACE. Balzano’s aesthetic vocabulary draws inspiration from the timeless beauty of venice, Rome, and Florence, where he spent much of his childhood. GUIDED BY THE PRINCIPLE THAT SIMPLICITY IS THE ULTIMATE SOPHISTICATION, BALZANO’S WORK COMBINES NOBLE MATERIALS, PURITY OF LINES, AND HYPER-DETAILED ARCHITECTURAL REFERENCES WITH EVERYDAY FUNCTIONALITY

In the pensieri collection, balzano leaves his worries — his pensieri — behind to create a delectable dreamscape in pink and white. Unapologetically escapist, Each work in molded resin is a nostalgic confection to soothe a Harried mind. With a sleek cubist aesthetic, the work offers to sophisticated collectors a daydream back to childhood. Recalling the pleasures of bubblegum, pink lemonade, and sugar cubes, the collection draws on the playfulness of pop art and insists on the importance of the soft, sweet, and silly in life and in art
