A refined investigation into the expressive potential of curvature and proportion, the Scarf Collection demonstrates a studied balance between sculptural clarity and functional intent. An articulation of timeless design at its most essential, each work embodies Genser’s architectural approach to design—rigorous in execution, yet grounded in comfort and human scale. Comprised of three sofas, a méridienne, and an armchair, the collection privileges thoughtful form over stylistic excess and transforms formal gesture into sculptural objects of enduring relevance
The defining gesture of the collection is a continuous, sweeping backrest that envelops each seating volume with fluid precision. This curved form, evocative in its structural precision, generates a sense of both spatial containment and visual movement. Rather than decorative flourish, the curvature serves as an organizing principle—articulating the relationship between mass and void, surface and support. With proportions that are generous but never excessive, the forms maintain a disciplined, timeless elegance that resists both trend and nostalgia
Retrained materials further Genser’s commitment to clarity and refinement in every detail. The upholstered versions employ a stretch fabric by Pierre Frey, chosen for its ability to conform seamlessly to the complex geometry of the forms. The near absence of visible seams or folds heightens the sense of cohesion and allows the volume to assert itself without distraction
