SERTÃO

Capturing the raw, untamed beauty of Brazil’s Northeast region, Sertão translates that rich cultural heritage into a refined and sculptural series. Inspired by the region’s artisanal traditions, particularly leather craftsmanship, this collection marries the statuesque solidity of marble with the supple, tactile elegance of hand-sewn leather. The result is a series of works that are both rugged and sophisticated, a harmonious interplay of contrasting textures and materials

Each table is anchored by a conical solid wood base, which is meticulously wrapped in hand-cut leather. The leather is stitched and assembled using traditional techniques, drawing on the craftsmanship of Brazilian artisans. The base designs—Scale, Seam, and Patchwork—each bring their own distinct aesthetic. The interplay of stitching and leatherwork brings a level of intricacy to the collection, contrasting with the minimalist simplicity of the marble surfaces

Scale features layered cuts of leather that create a sense of rhythm and movement

Seam emphasizes refined, continuous stitching, where the precision of the craft is at the forefront

Patchwork celebrates irregularity and organic form, with assembled leather pieces creating a more complex, textured surface

The marble tops, available in finishes such as Calacatta Oro, Dover White, and Travertine, provide a striking counterpoint to the richly textured bases. Calacatta Oro, with its creamy white base and gold veining, adds an element of luxury, while Dover White offers a softer, more understated elegance. Travertine, with its warm, earthy tones, evokes a sense of permanence and history. The smooth, polished surfaces of the stone balance the tactile roughness of the leather-wrapped bases, creating a dialogue between simplicity and complexity

Customization is integral to the Sertão collection, with extensive options for personalization. The leather can be dyed to either blend harmoniously with the marble in a subtle ton sur ton palette, or it can create a bold contrast. Stitching can be discreetly matched to the leather or made more prominent with contrasting thread, emphasizing the craftsmanship involved. Whether in vegetable-tanned or aniline leather with relief seams, each piece is crafted to order, ensuring that no two are alike

Exclusively for studiotwentyseven and Handcrafted in Italy, Sertão is a sophisticated homage to the artisanal traditions of Brazil, blending organic materiality with sculptural precision. Each piece stands as both a functional object and a work of art, a testament to the beauty found in nature and craft
