HAGIT PINCOVICI

Hagit Pincovici

Born Tel Aviv, Israel, 1978

An Israeli designer based in New York and Milan, Pincovici founded her eponymous bespoke luxury furniture and lighting atelier in 2014. Known for a rich color and material palette, and a devotion to geometric forms, Pincovici has recently turned her attention to nature, inspired by the striking landscape of her native Israel. From marble, brass, and lacquer to sandstone and cast aluminum, she is an intrepid explorer of materials. Her signature clean lines highlight the relationship between the experimental and functional. She collaborates personally with a family of artisans in Brianza, Italy, to create each piece

Pincovici is a graduate of Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem and Domus Academy in Milan. She has designed furniture for leading Italian design brands Cole, Miniform, and Baxter, for whom she won a Wallpaper* Design Award in 2019

SHIBARI COLLECTION

Exclusively for studiotwentyseven, Pincovici’s Shibari Collection draws its inspiration from the ancient Japanese discipline of the same name. Originating as an erotic art form, Shibari Is a kind of rope bondage that literarily translates as the beauty of tight bondage. Over time, the practice has evolved to become a form of body relaxation, as well as an artistic technique to create living sculptures. Central to the art is creating patterns that contrast and complement the natural curves of the body. The beauty lies in juxtaposition: bare skin and rough rope, strength and exposure, calm and risk

Pincovici’s collection honors the shibari practice by applying the technique to a supple, sumptuous, and sensual furniture collection. Using natural rope and travertine, pincovici has captured the juxtaposition between tension and relaxation that defines shibari. With a spectacular, organic sense of movement in stone and rope, The collection is a celebration of embodiment, sophisticated eroticism, and ingenuity in craftsmanship. Handmade by master artisans in italy, the shibari collection is exclusively for studiotwentyseven
