The Venere collection by Simone Fanciullacci reinterprets the archetype of the female form through a series of sculptural works that evoke primitivism and sensuality. The collection is named for the Italian word for Venus — goddess of love, beauty, and fertility — and reimagines notions of classical beauty through abstracted, voluminous shapes that recall both Greco-Roman statuary and prehistoric fertility figures. The works directly reference the Venus of Willendorf, whose abstracted contours and voluminous presence have long symbolized fertility, sustenance, and the idealized body. Fanciullacci distills the essence of these historic forms into a contemporary aesthetic that is at once primitive and refined
Composed of patinated cast bronze or cast aluminum, the works possess a rich, textured surface that amplifies their organic character. The material treatment enhances the interplay of shadow and reflection, deepening the contrast between convex and concave forms. Swollen curves and recesses create a dynamic tension between mass and void, suggesting a balance between monumentality and fluidity
Handcrafted in Italy, Venere celebrates both the earthly and the divine, inviting reflection on the universality of the feminine archetype and the layered meanings it has accrued across time
