The Bracelli Floor Lamp occupies a singular position between sculpture and contemporary design, demonstrating Dalí’s conviction that functional objects could serve as vehicles for artistic expression. Conceived for Dalí’s own home in Portlligat, Costa Brava, the lamp was designed in collaboration with celebrated furniture designer Jean-Michel Frank, whose refined modernism provided a disciplined counterpoint to Dalí’s Surrealist visionThe lamp’s sharply angular structure recalls a lightning bolt arrested in motion, descending into a pointed geometry that pierces the handcrafted, ivory-colored lampshade. Its dynamic silhouette creates a sense of tension and directional force, while the surface, finished in luminous gold leaf, heightens its sculptural presence and reflective depth. At the base, a wooden crutch-like support introduces both a structural anchor and a distinctly Surrealist gesture, reinforcing the object’s anthropomorphic and symbolic character
At once assertive and precise, the Bracelli Lamp exemplifies Dalí’s ability to transform expressive form into a functional object at the intersection of art, design, and historical legacy without diminishing its conceptual intensity
