The Chinar floor lamp stands as a luminous ode to one of nature’s most poetic symbols: the Chinar tree. Native to Central Asia and carried through Persia before flourishing in Mughal gardens, the Chinar has long embodied endurance, beauty, and the passage of time. In Kashmir, it is both a cultural emblem and a presence that shapes the very atmosphere of the landscape. This sculptural work in light, brass, and glass draws from the tree’s legendary grandeur, its vast canopy, and the burnished hues of its autumn leaves
The lamp’s very name—meaning the tree of light—defines its spirit. Its handblown glass components emanate a warm, amber radiance reminiscent of sun filtering through a cascade of autumn foliage. The refined structure, at once architectural and organic, transforms light into a living texture, a quiet metaphor for the continuity between nature and craft
Through its glow, Chinar becomes a vessel of memory, echoing the tree’s ancient lineage and enduring symbolism. Hand sculpted in India, the work honors a heritage of cross-cultural exchange and artisanal mastery, distilling centuries of history into a single gesture of warmth, reverence, and timeless grace
