Named for Daedalus, the mythical Greek architect and master craftsman who built the Labyrinth of Crete and fashioned wings of wax and feather for his son Icarus, the Dedalo Collection is an homage to invention, flight, and the architecture of intersecting form. Fanciullacci translates the myth into a sculptural body of bronze blades that fold and curve like wings caught mid-motion, holding within them the light sources they seem designed to protect
Each work in the Dedalo Collection is defined by an intricate, intersecting arrangement of patinated bronze plates that shift in appearance with every angle of approach, a composition that refuses to be read the same way twice, much like the labyrinth its namesake designed. Curvaceous and angled, the dark metal blades partially envelop distinct tubular light sources set at different heights and orientations, their openings diffusing light downward in a choreography of shadow and illumination
Handcrafted in Italy, the body of each lamp is cast in a single piece of patinated bronze using the lost-wax casting technique. A plaster model is sculpted entirely by hand, from which a mold and wax models are made for casting. Once cast, the bronze is finished with a patina applied by brush, not as paint but as a natural reaction of acids upon the metal’s surface, allowing each piece to carry its own tonal signature
Strictly in limited edition, Dedalo stands as a tribute to the inventor’s hand, transforming the myth of flight and labyrinthine ingenuity into objects of sculptural light
