The Earle Chandelier began not in the studio, but in conversation. First sketched on a napkin by antonson with designer Stephen Earle, the work emerged from a shared desire to isolate and exalt a single form, allowing it to hover within space as if freed from gravity. The result is a composition defined by clarity of intention and restraint
At its center floats a luminous sphere, illuminated from below to heighten the illusion of weightlessness. Suspended and contained, it occupies a precise equilibrium, appearing at once held and released. The form resists a single reading. It can be understood as a planet, a pebble, a molecule, or an atom, shifting scale effortlessly and collapsing the vast and the infinitesimal into a single presence
When lit, the sphere performs two roles simultaneously. It draws the eye as a focal point, anchoring the composition, while also diffusing light outward in a softened, atmospheric glow. Illumination becomes both subject and medium, radiating through the form rather than projecting away from it
Recalling Renaissance diagrams of the cosmos, it might have belonged to the world of da Vinci, where science, art, and wonder were inseparable. The Earle Chandelier finds beauty not in excess, but in rationality itself, transforming scientific inquiry into a quiet, luminous meditation on balance, scale, and the poetry of order
