The Gorilla series comprises sculptural lamps that merge organic abstraction with a refined study of form and surface. Drawing upon a conceptual lineage from the biomorphic modernism of Constantin Brancusi and Henry Moore, the works channel a quietly potent presence: solid yet supple, assertive yet contemplative. Their silhouettes—sinuous, asymmetrical, and in constant visual flux—evoke the dormant vitality and dignified poise of gorillas at rest
The shifting profiles of the lamps compel movement around them, as each angle reveals a different relationship between mass and void, surface and shadow. With their irregular volumes and vegetal, almost primordial geometries, the works sit comfortably between sculpture and design. They are objects of utility, but also of enduring contemplation—intimate monuments scaled to domestic life
Each base is cast in a single piece of patinated bronze using the lost-wax technique, the result of a rigorous artisanal process in Italy. A hand-sculpted plaster model is translated into wax, then cast in bronze and finished with a naturally reactive patina. The surfaces deepen the works’ tactile and visual richness, revealing subtle gradations in tone and texture. In custom editions, a hand-applied 24-karat gold leaf finish introduces a heightened dialogue between materiality and light
