The Grande Angele Chandelier offers sense of cosmic order that feels at once rational and transcendent. Governed by clear geometry yet charged with atmosphere, the work balances structure with awe, offering a vision of the universe that is measured, luminous, and quietly spiritual. Among the largest works in Antonson’s collection, it occupies a room with confidence while appearing to hover, its mass dissolved into rhythm, repetition, and light
The form is structured through a sequence of concentric rings that seem to reverberate outward, recalling the planetary bands that encircle Saturn. Each ring holds integrated lighting that casts a soft, halo-like glow upward, creating a layered atmosphere that expands beyond the object itself. Light does not simply emanate from the chandelier; it accumulates, circulating gently through space
At the center, a conical core anchors the composition. From within, light descends in a controlled, measured way, softly illuminating the area below and establishing a vertical counterpoint to the outward pull of the rings. Together, the horizontal and vertical elements create a balanced spatial dialogue, one that activates ceiling, volume, and ground simultaneously
Despite its scale, the Grande Angele maintains a sense of buoyancy. The open structure allows air and light to pass freely, giving the chandelier a floating presence rather than a monolithic one. It fills a room not through density, but through expansion, transforming light into a quiet, cosmic architecture that feels both monumental and serene
