The Hilary Chandelier is a classic in the truest sense and one of Antonson’s most popular works. It moves effortlessly across contexts and eras, hanging with equal confidence in rooms shaped by mid-century elegance, urban modernity, or rustic country restraint. Rather than anchoring itself to a single style, Hilary operates as a quiet constant, adapting without ever dissolving into neutrality
Its form is organized around a circular structure that recalls the lineage of the wagon-wheel chandelier, reimagined here with clarity and control. Around the perimeter, geometric goblet-like cups are evenly spaced, lifted and held in a poised, elevated formation. Each cup is individually hand-sculpted, giving it a distinct character and subtle irregularity. Texture accumulates gradually: edges soften, surfaces shift, and small variations assert themselves. The chandelier rewards proximity, revealing a richness that only emerges through close attention
hilary recalls the image of King Arthur’s knights gathered at the Round Table, an emblem of equality and collective presence. Reimagined for contemporary life, the medieval symbol becomes architectural rather than narrative, translating an ancient idea of fellowship into a composed, modern structure that quietly presides over shared space
