Simone Fanciullacci
Born Genova, Italy, 1982
A Milanese artist, Fanciullacci considers his practice to be artistic research on THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FORM AND SPACE. THE AIM BEHIND THIS QUEST IS TO UNDERSTAND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE VOLUMES THAT GIVE LIFE TO A FORM, THE RHYTHM THAT CHARACTERIZES THEM, AND THE sense of BALANCE or DISEQUILIBRIUM THAT THEY EVOKE. His extraordinary sculptural works EMERGe FROM an EXPLORATory process OF HANDS-ON experimentation IN SCULPTURE, COLLAGE, DRAWING, and technical innovation. In This AESTHETIC AND POETIC INVESTIGATION, Fanciullacci finds FREEdom in playing WITH DIFFERENT LANGUAGES AND MATERIALS, eventually giving LIFE TO his UNIQUE WORKS AND OBJECTS
Fanciullacci produces his singular works in CLOSE COLLABORATION WITH the finest ITALIAN CRAFTSMEN. Because of his long lasting collaborative relationships with several local artisans, Fanciullacci is able to explore a range of ancient and innovative techniques alike, along with the possibilities of exquisite materials, such as bronze, aluminum, marble, stone and solid wood. each work is fully customizable and is crafted WITH THE AIM OF LASTING FOR generations, MAKing THE ACT OF COLLECTING A SUSTAINABLE CULTURAL STATEMENT. After receiving a degree in product design from the politecnico di milano, Fanciullacci launched his eponymous atelier in 2017. His work has been featured in premier design publications and has received numerous acknowledgements, including the IF Design Award, the Good Design Award, and an honorable mention for the XXII Compasso d’Oro Award. Since 2011, he has served on the design faculty at the politicnico di milano

Ode
The Ode lighting series by Fanciullacci transforms light into a spatial gesture, encapsulated within patinated cast bronze forms that embody both solidity and ephemerality. Handcrafted in Italy, this sculptural collection employs the ancient and meticulous process of lost-wax casting, with each lamp showcasing an extraordinary balance between materiality and void. The result is a collection that integrates light, space, and form into a unified artistic expression
Each work in the Ode series reflects a continual quest for balance, with its forms appearing to chase and interact with one another in a perpetual dialogue of tension and harmony. Light itself becomes both a physical and conceptual element, emerging as an ethereal force housed within the enduring, protective shell of bronze. The works transcend their functional purpose, serving as sculptural statements that invite us to consider the dynamic relationship between permanence and the fleeting nature of illumination
The body of each lamp, which doubles as its lampshade, is rendered in a single, seamless piece of cast bronze. The process begins with a plaster model, sculpted by hand to articulate the lamp’s organic, irregular contours. These forms, suggestive of natural growth, shape space dynamically, with voids becoming integral to their composition. From the plaster model, molds are created, and wax models are cast, eventually culminating in the final bronze structure
The surface of the bronze is enhanced with patinas applied by hand using acid solutions, which react chemically with the metal to create richly textured, naturally colored finishes. For an additional layer of refinement, a 24-karat gold leaf finish is available upon request, accentuating the interplay between the material’s tactile quality and its luminous properties
Exclusive to STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN and in strictly limited edition, the Ode series celebrates Fanciullacci’s mastery of materials and his ability to merge timeless Italian craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics.
