Sebastien Durelli
Born italy, 1981
Born into a Legendary Italian family of creative entrepreneurs, artists, and craftsmen, Durelli is an interior and furniture designer based in Milan. His work combines his unique contemporary aesthetic, personal experiences, and the rich tapestry of his family history: His father was one of the biggest names in Italian fashion design and his mother ran one of the oldest ceramic companies in the world, Working with luxury fashion houses and royal families. His first collection of furniture balances nostalgia, Italian craftsmanship, and a daring futurist minimalism, and was presented in 2019 in Paris, Venice, and London
After receiving his BBA in London, Durelli worked in the fashion industry for over 15 years, specializing in design and production, in Italy, France, Turkey, and China. In 2018, he returned to his roots and moved to Milan, where he received his Masters in Interior Design

Awakening
Durelli’s Awakening collection embodies the raw, otherworldly beauty of Iceland’s landscapes, where nature’s sculptural forces—wind, water, and time—have carved out terrains that seem both ancient and futuristic. Durelli’s fascination with these landscapes, which have inspired settings in science fiction, infuses the work with a subtle sense of fantasy, suggesting that the natural world holds both the familiar and the fantastical within it
The work draws deeply from the ethereal beauty of Iceland’s glacial lagoons, where ice and water converge in a sublime expression of nature’s quiet power. These lagoons, with their crystalline waters, mirror the tranquility and vastness that Durelli captures in his work. The reflective surface of the mirror evokes the glassy stillness of these lagoons, while the cast bronze frame—available in black, patina green, or gold bronze—suggests the rugged, elemental terrain that surrounds them
This interplay between the polished mirror and the textured bronze evokes a tension between permanence and transformation, capturing a moment within nature’s ongoing evolution. The smooth, mirror-like plane and the textured, sculpted bronze recalls the contrast between the soft flow of water and the raw, jagged forms of the glaciers.
