Maxime Boutillier
Born Bordeaux, France, 1989
A French designer and interior architect, Boutillier is a lover of pure and sculptural aesthetics. Guided by the notion that ‘creation is the art of foretelling one’s past, his contemporary designs are rooted in the rich history of French decorative arts. Carefully considering the intimate relationship between material and shape, Boutillier creates furniture singular in its elegant balance of history and the world to come. Uncompromising in his search for authenticity and excellence, Boutillier is noted for his dedication to noble materials and traditional French craftsmanship
After graduating from Penninghen in Paris, Boutillier worked with Joseph Dirand for seven years. He founded his own studio in 2020

Exclusively to Studiotwentyseven, boutillier’s ELEMENTAIRE collection is a futuristic reimagining of the lush iconography of Art Deco design. The collection pushes the limits of that period’s sumptuous curvature, bold geometries, and rich materials to uncover something elemental and essential. Playing with negative space and asymmetrical counterpoints, each work is a masterful and architectural monument to presence and absence, becoming a palimpsestic ode to the hallmarks of Deco style
Simple forms and clean lines foreground the monochromatic theatricality and maximalist veining of French grand Antique marble, an exquisite finish exclusive to studiotwentyseven. Available in strictly limited edition, the collection is also available in European oak.
